Fostering Our Forests

Our working forests reflect the commitment and dedication of our team of professional foresters and operators. From our founding, we’ve encouraged employees to approach each acre with respect and intention. Simply put, we treat our lands as though they were our own, balancing production and utilization while ensuring the land continues to provide clean water, diverse habitats and recreation opportunities now and into the future.

The Mighty Douglas-Fir

Native to the forests of Oregon and the PNW, the Douglas-fir, is an incredible tree. Hearty and versatile, Douglas-fir range from British Columbia to Northern California, from sea level to high in the mountains. A sun- and disturbance- loving species, Douglas-fir needs open, clear sky to thrive amid the encroaching grasses and brush . Growing tall and straight with unmatched beauty and strength, Douglas-fir is the preferred building material for  homes, apartments, offices, and multi-story buildings.  While we plant many other native species on our timberlands, the mighty Douglas-Fir stands out for all its natural splendor.

Our Forests Are Full of Life

From the iconic beaver to the mighty Roosevelt elk to serenading migratory songbirds, our diverse forests are teeming with a variety of wildlife. The range of forest types across our lands create habitats favored by different wildlife species supporting our objective of keeping common species common.

For species identified as potentially vulnerable, Lone Rock Resources participates in Federal Conservation Agreements in hopes that someday these species will be common once more.
